Summer Break Tour

Last night kae and I did -

This!

We went to the Summer Break Tour, two opening groups I'd never heard of, Victoria Justice and Big Time Rush.

Kae was super stylish in all her sparkly hot pink glory.

We had grass seats at Coral Sky, Cruzan, whatever. The name will change again in a week.

We squished Olivia Somerlyn, who actually wasn't bad, we'd just never heard her before.

Victoria Justice was actually really amazing live. She did mostly songs from her nickelodeon show Victorious, but a few originals, and a cover.

And then BTR came out, they were...alright. Let me point out that I compare them to The Monkees a lot. Without the awesome that was Davey Jones. They are an invented boy band for a tv show that now put out albums. The music is typical boy band, but catchy. I knew one song from their set. Kae didn't care.

And danced around like a crazy person.

We left before the encore, kae was tired and hungry.

All in all she had a great time. And I had fun watching her have fun. Though it will probably be another few years before we try that again. So many Tweens

4th of Boom

So we went to my dads for the 4th. Again. It's not a huge deal, I try and be flexible. Next year I bring food for the kids. Dads jambalaya is way too spicy.

Anyway.

I spun in the car on the way there

And then some more whole the kids played in the pool, and the big kids went to buy fireworks.

Bobo and daddy

Kae and her Uncle Zach

Lots of steps at grandpa's house

Then we set off fireworks. Lots of very loud, very dangerous fire works. There were only 4 "oops", one of which I wish I had gotten on video. We joked on Great Grandpa that he was having Vietnam flash backs. Yeah.

Ooooo

Aaaaaaaaaah

Sparkly.

The kids slept in past 7am, it was nice

TdF days 4-5

It's been a long week. What with a holiday in the middle of it!

I finished spinning Finnick

Then wound him into a center pull ball

Then did a 2-ply. 245 yards of dk weight super smooshy merino /drool!

I think he'll be a hat. For me

Extra Life

On November 2, 2013 I'll be playing video games for 25 hours!

WHAT?!? 25 hours?!

yes, because it's for charity.

I'll be marathon gaming for Extra Life, a charity organization that uses video games, and gamers, to raise money for the Children's Miracle Network. I'll be playing for the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. Where I was born almost 8 weeks premature, and spent the first month of my life in an incubator.

I play as someone who benefited from others generosity, and I play as a mother.

I'll be gaming on my computer, playing Neverwinter Online by PWE, a free MMO based on Dungeons and Dragons. Probably my Teifling Control Wizard. unless they've got the new Sun and Moon Elves and class released.

I'll also be gaming on the PS3, playing the Walking Dead choose your own adventure game! hopefully the second game/chapters will be released by then. I'll also be playing either Skyrim OR Dragon Age 2, I've been informed i'm not even CLOSE to being finished with that game, and I've already logged a ton of hours.

for travel time, and such, i'll be playing on my cellphone, Dragon City and Tetris, probably Candy Crush too. I also have a wicked fun zombie game called Zombie Z, it's free, and like, FourSquare meets zombie survival.

Please donate if you can, or sign up, you can join us on Team Za Kage, or start your own. it's a great cause!

TdF - day 3 - 2013

So I didn't get much spinning time today. Kae and I made soap during nap so that time went quickly.

Then bedtime came. And now it's dark out.

So I worked on my grey Kauni roving again.

Happy turtle

Soap

Kae and I tried to make soap today.

Tried.

I found directions on how to make soap without lye. Which I thought would be easier for kae.

We used:

1/4 cup water
1/2 tsp vanilla essential oil
1 1/2 cups soap flakes (ivory)
1/4 cup quick rolled oats

I boiled the water and added the oil, and a few drops of food coloring then added it to the soap bits kae had shredded in an aluminum foil dish (disposable!) and we stirred it up. Then added the oatmeal.
I spooned it into an old juice concentrate can to harden. We have to wait 4 days now. She's impatient.

I smell like vanilla.

June reading list

I really should get back on track of posting this the last day of the month.

June
1-31 Dark Wolf Rising - Rhyannon Byrd (6/11) free/kindle
2-32 Breathless (The Blue Fire Saga, #1) - Scott Prussing (6/24) free/kindle
3-33 Frost Burned - Patricia Briggs (6/25) free/library

Yup, that's it. I have no excuse since our Internet was out all month.

Breathless was a good concept, different take on vampires and hunters. And the main character was flawed and not completely helpless. She was human. It just didn't hold my attention.

Dark wolf was a harlequin nocturne book, nuff said.

Oh Patty Briggs how I lurve her books. I am NEVER disappointed in them. Even when I read the spoilers about Sam and thought I'd be heartbroken. I was just so happy at how it turned out! I'm now eagerly anticipating the next book :) LOVE!
